Matthew Thornton

Matt is originally from Oklahoma City, OK where he attended the University of Central Oklahoma.  Growing up a soccer player, he didn't discover lifting weights until he was out of high school.  After spending a decade at globo-gyms designing his own workouts, and lifting alone, he hit a plateau.  Seeking an alternative, and per a friend's suggestion, he decided to seek out a CrossFit gym to rediscover his passion for fitness.   Matt quickly learned he no only had a passion for CrossFit, but a deep desire to make it his career. He's extremely grateful to be a part of the Depot team and takes great pride in coaching and making our athletes as fit as they can be.

  • Favorite Workout: Isabel / Least Favorite Workout: The 7s, Lumberjack, and 14.5. I hate them all equally.

  • Favorite Movement: Handstand walking. I just find child-like joy every time I do it. Bar muscle-ups are pretty damn fun too.

  • Favorite Cheat Meal: Whiskey and beer.

  • Interesting Fact about Matthew: The only CrossFit workout I’ve ever puked during was my very first baseline workout.

  • Favorite Super Hero: Toss-up between Wolverine and Thor. Wolverine has the regeneration and healing factor that would serve me well considering the strain we put our bodies through. Thor is a god with a really cool name.
